All of my Chi’s have preferred and done exceptionally well on Freeze dried raw meat diets! After eating this, they generally refuse to eat any kibble or other kinds of dog food! These dogs have all been extremely healthy!

Comment on 17 Solutions for Dogs Who Dig Under Fences (and 4 Things NOT to Do) by Maureen https://www.k9ofmine.com/solutions-for-dogs-who-dig-under-fences/#comment-4502695 Sat, 09 Nov 2024 20:10:40 +0000 https://www.k9ofmine.com/?p=4091337#comment-4502695 P.S. Good article btw, thank you! I’ve boarded and provide doggy daycare for 20 years so a secure fence is a must! I added the largest, heaviest pavers I could find into the ground BELOW the gates where you can’t extend the wire. The trouble with dogs and fences…the determined ones only need to find one small area of vulnerability in hundreds of feet of fence to escape… so it’s either 100% secure or I might as well have no fence at all!

DON’T use the thin wire that is green and comes in big rolls. My fencing “expert” stapled 4’ of that (don’t ask me why so much, must have been easier than cutting it!) and extended it 6” below the bottom of the wooden fence into the ground at my request; I should have done 8” or more. After only 8 months, a dog has clawed the wire in one area and finally chewed through it! I’m investigating if chicken wire would be a stronger/safer replacement, but I’m also buying some FenceDefense sections to see if that’s a good fix where I see vulnerable areas!

Comment on Why More Vet Clinics Are Getting Devoured By Corporate Greed (And Why Owners Should Worry) by Bob Purvy https://www.k9ofmine.com/vet-clinic-acquisition-by-private-equity-firms/#comment-4499326 Mon, 21 Oct 2024 21:17:34 +0000 https://www.k9ofmine.com/?p=4144875#comment-4499326 I lost my precious Lab, Ernie, to sepsis brought on by gastro-intestinal bleeding, which in turn came from a NSAID for arthritis. I can’t prove this but I’m certainly not going back to that vet for the new dog. So I’m trying to compile a list of vets who are “partnered” with a major consolidator or PE firm.
I’m finding it very difficult to get that list. The PE firms’ websites never list their “partners.”
I’m in Santa Clara County, California. So far, I’ve just got:

VCA
Banfield
