MEDFORD, OR - The Chamber of Medford & Jackson County, Pacific Power and Dutch Bros Coffee, in partnership with the iconic See’s Candies, are seeing to it that people in need get their belated Easter treats this year. “We’ve all grown up with See’s,” said Brad Hicks, President & CEO of The Chamber of Medford & Jackson County, “it wouldn’t be a holiday without it.” Hicks, in coordination with Chamber Board member Christina Kruger of Pacific Power, and numerous representatives from Dutch Bros Coffee dropped into See’s Candies on East McAndrews Road in Medford on April 16, 2020 to stock up on donated treats. With over 1000 pounds of candy to be shared, medical professionals at Asante and Providence Medford Medical Center will be recipients of See’s donations, along with multiple local youth and family non-profits. Pat Egan, CEO of the California-based company, said all of his stores have been temporarily closed, “While we are not able to sell candy from our shops, we can still bring some joy in these uncertain times.” He went on to say, “as part of See’s core values, it’s important to support those on the frontline and others who have been affected by this pandemic. We have been in Oregon for nearly 60 years and Medford has been our home for over 25 years now. Brad is an old friend from decades ago, and when I thought of how we could support Medford, it took one short call, and we were on our way. We are so appreciative of his partnership, as well as The Chamber, Pacific Power and Dutch Bros Coffee, and for all of their help in getting candy straight from our local shop out to the frontlines.” “It’s moments like this where the real heart and soul of a community takes hold,” said Christina Kruger, Regional Business Manager of Pacific Power. The Chamber, for its portion, will use their conference room as a makeshift distribution center for community groups to collect candy for their clients. At least 10 agencies have been invited to grab some sweets, with many benefitting from See’s coordination with local connections. In addition to Easter candy, The Chamber’s Rogue Valley Foundation is donating $1000 each to Hearts with a Mission, CASA of Jackson County, Maslow Project, Kids Unlimited, and Children’s Advocacy Center. Distribution of candy and financial donations are to take place at 1:30PM on Friday April 17, 2020 at The Chamber of Medford & Jackson County on East 8 th Street in downtown Medford.
