We already had a dog who was great around the hens. We got a second dog who seemed good around the hens too, until we found a detached head at our door step. Reminiscent of a cat leaving its owner a treat. Put the carcass near a tree, tied the dog up to the tree and yelled at him when he approached the dead hen. Dragged him to the carcass and yelled NO a few more times till he was scared to get near. Worked fine. No more issues.
